Back-to-school season is right around the corner—and what better time to stock up than during Tax Free Weekend! South Carolina’s Sales Tax Holiday runs from August 1–3, giving you the perfect chance to save on everything you need for the classroom.
Figuring out what's considered tax exempt and what's not can be a challenge. We've taken the time to break down a few key items that are exempt at Simpson Outfitters and beyond. Check it out below!
Tax Exempt
Clothing & Accessories: Eligible clothing consists of dresses and skirts, pant and jeans, t-shirts and tops, and underwear and socks. Accessories that are considered taxable consists of belts and suspenders, hats and caps, purses, neckties and bow ties. Activewear and Outerwear are also considered tax exempt.
Footwear: Footwear considered tax exempt consists of all shoes including cleats, dance shoes, rain boots, skates, and slippers.
School Supplies: School supplies consists of binders and folders, bookbags, lunch boxes, daily planners and agendas, headphone and earbuds, and pens and scissors.
Computers & Electronics: Computers, computer parts, software, printers, and printer supplies are included in the tax exemption holiday.
Taxable: Items that are taxable consists of briefcases and wallets, sunglasses, sports equipment (baseball mitts, helmets, mouth guards, etc.), jewelry, safety masks and googles.
